PPSMC Education

Our Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultants offer education and training sessions in addition to case-based consultations to enhance the health care provider's ability to respond to the needs of their clients and facilitate the integration of knowledge into clinical practice.

Who is this service for?
The service is for staff who work at long-term care facilities, home care agencies (CCAC and contracted providers), community support service organizations, and primary care providers.

What kind of palliative care education and training sessions are available?
Both basic and advanced for all members of the transdisciplinary team.

  • staff training delivered through workshops and conferences
  • train-the-trainer programs
  • web-based training and video-conferencing (in development)

Mentorship Program for Long-Term Care Facilities

This program works in collaboration with long-term care facilities to build sustainable expertise in palliative care.  The program includes needs assessment, staff education sessions, mentoring internal palliative care champions, train the trainer sessions and assisting with the initiation of internal palliative care rounds.

Palliative Case Consultation and Conferencing

Case-based consultations and conferencing focuses on educating registered staff as trainers within health care organizations.  It is available to other service providers as well upon request.
